From zero to gigantic in 5 minutes? No problem with the original inflatable screens from the market leader AIRSCREEN®. Thanks to their lightweight and flexibility, almost every location becomes a movie theater in no time at all - whether front garden or meadow, beach bar or lakeshore, fairground or sensitive old town area. As a low-cost alternative to elaborate scaffolding constructions, AIRSCREEN® is the professional all-rounder for all kinds of movie, television, music, and promotion events.

And this is how it works:
From the technical point of view, AIRSCREEN® is an inflatable frame made of a PVC tissue which is especially coated and high-frequency welded, into which a projection screen is tightly stretched. Folded in a space-saving manner, it fits on a euro-pallet and is erected by a particularly low-noise high-capacity fan to form a gigantic projection screen within a few minutes.
And this fan also ensures the permanent internal stability of the construction by regulating the pressure fluctuation in a fully automated way. The external stability is ensured by a system of tensioning ropes, anchors, and counterweights. This guarantees the safe and reliable operation of these technically inspected and certified systems with wind speeds of up to Beaufort 5 and even for several weeks without any problems. Depending on the size, the erection of an entire AIRSCREEN® system takes about an hour, its dismantling less than 30 minutes.
BIG cinema is the official "rental, sales and support" base of The AIRSCREEN® Company and partner of the international AIRSCREEN® network. That means we supply all sizes and formats from the AIRSCREEN® range and the related original accessories, which can be ordered from any place in the world. Being a professional partner, we support our customers in choosing the appropriate equipment, offer product demonstrations, and instruct them in the professional handling of the systems.
The following sizes are available:
6 x 3,4 metres, 8 x 4 metres, 10 x 5 metres, 12 x 6 metres, 14 x 7 metres, 16 x 8 metres, 20 x 10 metres, 24 x 12 metres, 27 x 13,5 metres
Anchor plate with eight holes are for AIRSCREENs on grass and sand. We are using ground nails with 100cm. There is a structural engineering calculation for the plates.
Lumen is a physical unit for the light flux. Translated from Latin it means light or lamp. For the specific indication of the luminous flux of projectors the unity ANSI lumen is common. ANSI is used to prove that a projector is tested according to the standards of the American National Standards Institute. ANSI withdrew the standard, but in fact the identical standards of the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) and the DIN EN 61947-1 still exist.

The media block is an important part of a digital cinema system. The media block decrypts and decodes the feature-film (Hollywood) content and delivers it to the projector in a useable format. Media blocks also manage the Key Delivery Messages (KDMs) – the decryption keys used to unlock the feature-film content at show time.
What makes a great media block?
Here are the features to look for in a media block:
Future-proofed – There will be more High Frame Rate (HFR) and 4K content produced in the future. You want a media block that can handle the bandwidth requirements of these new formats.
Reliability – A media block – especially an integrated media block – should work seamlessly with the digital cinema projector. You need to consider the reliability of your total digital cinema system, not only the projector or media block’s reliability.
DCI compliance – Your media block should be DCI compliant for all content formats and resolutions.
Backed by the right company – Choose a media block vendor that is committed to supporting digital cinema now, and in the future, even after all the digital conversions are done.

The DCI defines technical, qualitative, logistic and legally aspects for digital cinema. It is also called "standard for D-Cinema". This includes quality aspects of projection, data rate, resolution, subtitles, copy protection, sound formats, color spaces and methods. The DCI is a holding organization of american film studios.
A digital cinema package (DCP) is the standard format for digital cinema also called "D-Cinema". It includes a collection of pictures, sound and subtitles which are summarized in one file. It's just possible to play the file on a digital cinema server.
Film reels and motion-picture projectors have left their mark on more than one hundred years of cinema history. Cinema of the future will be digital though. And digital cinema has become present long ago.
With regard to media technology, the term D-cinema stands for the changeover of storage and playback procedures for images from photochemical and mechanical to digital and is comparable to the development in photography and music. This has not been a sudden changeover though, because, strictly speaking, digital intermediate stages have been part of the filmmakers' practice for a long time: The film material is repeatedly digitized by means of film scanners to perform essential steps in post-production like film editing, color balancing, or visual effects, and then again printed on 35mm film. Until a couple of years ago, the end product was delivered to cinemas exclusively on 35mm film copies and shown on screen by means of the appropriate motion-picture projectors.
By implementing increasingly digital recording technologies on the one hand and digital playback technologies on the other hand, the laborious and lossy recoding processes of analog and digital material have disappeared. This does not only make the workflow in production and distribution more efficient, but a considerably better and, most notably, wear-free image and sound quality is achieved and lastingly ensured. In a wider sense, the term D-cinema thus comprises the digitalization of the entire value-added chain, starting with recording through post-production, mastering, packaging, and encryption to distribution and showing at the movie theaters.
In the meantime, films are usually produced in an entirely digital manner and also increasingly distributed in digital form, while more and more cinemas upgrade their playback facilities with or even switch entirely to D-cinema equipment - mainly because they were otherwise not be able to show 3-D movies like "Avatar".
Mobile cinema has gone digital a long time ago: BIG cinema was one of the first event service providers in Europe to offer the distribution of D-cinema equipment in addition to professional 35mm technology. Our wealth of experience and know-how of how to handle D-cinema are accordingly large.
The 3D module of XpanD receives the incoming signal from the projector, converts it to a private synchronisation signal and sends the result to the IR emitter of. A 3D image is thus available with the appropriate 3D glasses.

The Dolby CP750 Kinoton Processor is the centrepiece within the cinema sound processing. The processor has various inputs, such as 4x AES (DCI server), SPDIF (Bluray, DVD), RCA (CD, MP3 player) and processes several sound standards. The device is controlled remotely via network.
Cinema sound systems have to be upgraded with digital inputs and alternative audio decoders due to new formats like Digital Cinema. The Dolby DMA8Plus Digital Media Adapter decodes the sound of digital sources like server, hard drives, tape playback systems or satellite and cable connections and leads it to the analogue inputs of the available Dolby cinema processor. Apart from the decoding of digital sound formats (e.g. Dolby E), it secures the synchronicity of picture and sound.

The Dolby DP571 encodes multichannel audio into the Dolby E format for contribution and distribution through the conventional two-channel infrastructures of DTV and HDTV facilities.

It's just a few steps...
easyDCP Creator:
The last step in the field of motion pictures productions for the digital cinema is the creation of the DCP (Digital Cinema Package). The software tool easyDCP Creator offers a easy-to-handle solution for DCP creation. This tool was especially designed for small and medium-sized
production companies and post houses in order to get with only a few clicks a complete DCP in HD resolution for distribution to digital cinema screens. The software runs on a standard-PC or a MAC. EasyDCP Creator allows to create Interop and SMPTE compatible DCP's.
- Creation of Interop and SMPTE compliant DCPs
- Supported input formats: DPX, JPEG2000, TIFF, JPEG, BMP, PNG
- Supporting HD, 2k and 4k picture content
easyDCP Player:
This JPEG 2000 decoding solution is created for post production facilities and small-sized digital cinema productions. The decoding is accelerated by a Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) and provides real-time playback of 2k Digital Cinema Packages (DCP) or sequences of J2K images.
- Available for Windows and Mac
- Real-time decoding of 2k@24fps
- Due to a flexible C++ API this decoder can be integrated into other host applications, e.g. for a DCP play-out system, a DCP unwrapper or any other post production tool that needs to decompress J2K files: Just get the Fraunhofer decoder and a quick, state-of-the-art Graphical Processing Unit – that's all you need for real time playback.
easyDCP KDM Generator:
The easyDCP KDM Generator enables the creation of so called Key Delivery Messages (KDM) for digital cinemas. A KDM allows the playback of an encrypted DCP for a certain time window on a specific playback device. With this tool one can easily generate hundreds of KDMs within a single run.
The fiber optic cable is a cable, which is used as an optical waveguide in fiber optic networks for optical data transmission. As a consequence a high bandwidth over large distances is possible.
The Samsonite is a flexible and weatherproof folding chair made of a steel-plastic construction including row connectors. Because of the space-saving folding function and the simple handling the Samsonite is a reliable all-rounder for seating outdoor events such as open-air cinemas.
Ground anchors or soil nails are used for ballasting the AIRSCREEN canvases. This hot-dip galvanized steel lifting points are beaten in the ground with the pulling direction until only the metal loop can be seen. Depending on soil conditions and the size and tensile load of the canvas ground anchors of either 100 cm or 150 cm are used.
Digital cinema, compared to the conventional 35mm technology, represents a considerable simplification of the distribution and showing of films. They are usually supplied to cinemas on a handy hard disk, and that in form of a data package sized 150 to 300 GB. Such a Digital Cinema Package (DCP) is a standardized digital cinema format playable all over the world with compressed image files and sound material as well as package-specific control files for read-out and playback of the individual media contents. It is copied as a whole to a server and then decoded and enabled with a key that is separately supplied for the respective presentation.
The server on the other hand is the central unit of the D-cinema system. It plays the film and controls the projector's functions as well as the sound and light system. The read-out and processing of the DCP data as well as the interaction of all technical components is based on an internationally standardized DCI specification. Clearly defined parameters of representation such as resolution, brightness, color fidelity, or contrast make sure that the high quality of the graphical and audio material is actually conveyed through the respective technology to the cinema. And, not least, digital films are non-wearing, thus ensuring brilliant images and crystal-clear sound every time a movie is shown.
Digital movies from distributors can be exclusively played with DCI-compliant D-cinema systems, standard technology with PC and LCD projector cannot be used. This is not least due to the enable code from the distributing company, which only applies to the respective film as well as a respective playback system. Conversely, DCPs to be played with D-cinema equipment can also be created from alternative content: BIG cinema has the hard- and software available to master SD and HD material and to produce DCPs.
In view of the near future of digital cinema, the term "Higher Frame Rates" (HFR) plays a major role. For about one hundred years, projection systems have been operating at a standard frame rate of 24 pictures shown per second. Given the advancing developments in the field of movie productions, this frame rate is hardly sufficient anymore. In the field of 3-D productions in particular, rapid tracking shots or swift pan shots would cause the images on screen to blur, flicker, or tremble. The solution is to increase the frame rate to 48 or even 60 frames per second, thus extremely reducing such effects and in addition facilitating altogether more impressive 2-D and 3-D movie experiences.
Latest developments show that the technology ofhigh frame rates will become the standard soon: On the one hand, more and more directors of movies count on HFR – films to be released in the near future like"Avatar II" or "The Hobbit" were already made using this technology. On the other hand, the first solutions to make the current digital cinema equipment compatible with HFR are entering the market.
In this regard, BIG cinema is again ahead of the times and already has HFR technology available, namely the Integrated Media Block (IMB) by Doremi. Combined with the external ShowVault™ storage server (by Doremi as well), HFR film material can be played by all our Christie series 2 DLPcinema® projectors. The IMB additionally provides for the film material to be directly played with a resolution of 4K.
BIG cinema uses an infrared emitter for digital 3D projections. It generates an infrared signal and causes a synchronization of the active 3D glasses with the digital projector or any other digital display devices.

The so-called Linkdecrypter Board is responsible for the encryption within the cinema projector.
Stage molton is a material napped on both sides. It is made of cotton or polyester and is often used as a backdrop in event technology. The material absorbs acoustic noise and is low-flammable. It is in line with DIN 4102 B1 / EN 13773-c1.

A truss is a modular system of framework girders made of aluminum or steel, which is often used in event business. These carriers are used to take different loads such as a VARIO 64 canvas of AV Stumpfl®.
In addition to inflatable AIRSCREENS® and the VARIO modular block frame systems by AV Stumpfl®, we also use Layher and Eurotruss truss systems as carrier constructions for screens. These standardized truss systems can be used flexibly and integrated as screen carrier modules without difficulty into already mounted stage or trade fair aswell as rigging constructions.

In the field of mobile cinema, the use of D-cinema technology is not a question of faith or a decision on a supposedly better or worse technology either - we have state-of-the-art projection equipment available for both systems. It is much more important, what you intend to show eventually and in which form the material is available. We are currently in a period of transition in which 35mm and digital cinema are still coexisting. The tendency is clearly towards a comprehensive digitalization. Even today, more and more motion pictures are exclusively distributed in digital form.
Digital cinema has without doubt at least the same quality as 35mm material, it is mostly of a higher quality and more practicable though. Several heavy film reels with a length of 600m are replaced by a handy hard disk, which can be reused as often as you like. The film itself is played smoothly, can not crack and worn by the mechanical stress of the playback. Digital film material is produced, stored, and also played back with a resolution of 2k or 4k, i.e. with a horizontal pixel count of 2048 or 4096. To be able to actually see the individual pixels having only a size of a few millimeters, you would have to stand directly in front of the screen. In case of conventional film material, usually only a bit more than 1000 lines are shown on screen, which, translated into digital language, corresponds to a resolution of approximately 1 to 1.3k.
D-cinema systems have interfaces compatible with alternative playback media like laptops, hard disks, and players for DVD, Blu-ray, or HDCAM SR. This makes, in contrast to the 35-mm projection technology, the use of additional LCD projectors unnecessary, alternative digital material thus is projected onto the screen by one and the same system.
A wireless microphone is a cordless microphone, which is usually in action during presentations prior to the movie.
The water barrels in sizes 500 liters and 1,000 liters are used for ballasting the canvas. In particular, when soil nails are impossible, water barrels are called into action. The necessary water volume is determined by the screen size, the terrain and the wind conditions.

While being compact and light enough for one person to move and set up easily, both models include features that have been field-proven in previous Yamaha digital consoles as well as outstanding sonic quality. In addition to an extensive range of gating, compression, and equalization capabilities, there's also a built-in USB memory recorder/player for recording or BGM playback, and other functionality that give you everything you need for small to medium scale live sound or installed applications in remarkably compact, all-in-one consoles.
