On the 18th June 2015 the guests who visited the the Alte Oper in Frankfurt am Main experienced an extraordinary film concert. The Symphony Orchestra of the Frankfurt Radio Orchestra and the conductor Frank Strobel realized the music to the cinema classic of Alfred Hitchcock's "Vertigo". This exciting project was implemented in cooperation with the European Film Philharmonic Institute. BIG cinema set up a high quality projection technology for crisp and brilliant images on a 15 x 7 m large screen. For the perfect illumination of the musicians of the ensemble and there sheets of music, we supplied the musicians with music stand lights.
The US movie "Vertigo" was first performed in 1958 in San Francisco. The soundtrack was written by Bernard Hermann, who is considered as Alfred Hitchcock’s "house composer". Was the film subjected to negative criticism at its release, underwent it a Renaissance and late appreciation over the years.
